Not a long post today, since I just had a minor sinus procedure yesterday, and most of my days have been spent sleeping.
But I’m posting this for people with chronic sinus problems! All of you who get sinus infections ALL THE TIME, or who have trouble breathing at night, or feel like you’re always blowing your nose…
This may be for you.
Talk to your doctor about Balloon Sinuplasty. I’d never heard of it, but my ENT assures me it’ll take my chronic sinus infections from 7 – 8 times a year to… wait for it… 0 – 1. That’s right. There’s a good chance I’ll only get sick ONCE A YEAR.
Holey moley, that’d be awesome.
The results are permanent, and while the numbing (inside my nostrils) took about an hour, the actual procedure only took 10 minutes. I was at the doctors about 1.5 hours total. And then I came home and slept, and even though I’ve been breathing through my mouth for two days, I physically feel pretty good.
This procedure inserts a thin rod with a deflated balloon into your nostrils. Then, when positioned correctly, the balloon inflates, causing micro-fractures in your nasal passages to widen them. It’s supposed to allow for better mucus circulation, which means that stuff isn’t just pooling in your nasal cavities collecting bacteria.
As a flight attendant, I’m desperate for anything to stop these. I’ve done allergy tests (negative), tried every kind of nasal spray (not helpful), and explored homeopathic remedies like nasal rinses (good, but not permanent fixes). So this procedure was my Holy Grail.
Now I just have to wait two weeks to see if it works. But flight attendants I’ve spoken with said it “changed their lives.” So fingers crossed!!
Anyway, since I’m pretty tired from the pain meds, I haven’t done any editing since Tuesday night. I’m going to try and get back on the horse tonight, but for now, it’s naptime!
If you have any questions about this procedure and its recovery, feel free to ask! I’m happy to spread the word, since I’d spent 3 years actively looking for a fix, right up until one ENT suggested this. If it works, you’d better believe I’ll be singing it from the rooftops!
On another note, don’t forget that Camp NaNo is still happening! It’s not too late to sign up!! ❤
